General Preschool Information

Preschool registration for the 2024-2025 school year is NOW open! Register online HERE.

The Greater Salem Boys & Girls Club Preschool is a non-profit preschool serving children 3-5 years of age, and maintains Licensed Plus status through the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.

Our preschool's philosophy emphasizes the "whole" child. Our programs are designed to address your child's total development. One of our primary goals is to develop a positive attitude toward school and learning. While laying on the cognitive building blocks to help your child become a lifelong learner. The program experiences will help each child express and become aware of his/her feelings, awaken curiosity, and develop independence.

One teacher and one teacher's aide are present in each classroom.  Each preschool class has a maximum of 16 children for a teacher/child ratio of 1:8. The nursery class has a ratio of 1:7.  This low ratio allows us to give your child the individual attention he or she deserves.

Because our class sizes are small, enrollment capacity is reached quickly.  To inquire further, please contact Cynthia McKeon (our Preschool Director) at 603-898-7709 x33, or cmckeon@salembgc.org

Please note: you must register your child online and follow up with the attached paperwork found under the tab that fits your family's needs.

Pre-Kindergarten (must be 4 years old before September 30th)

All children entering this program must be 4 years old by September 30th.  Significant emphasis is given to the development of motor skills, language arts, and science/math activities.

Art, music, dramatic play, fitness, cooking, a weekly 30-minute swim lesson, structured choice time, and periodic field trips are also included.

Our strong language arts, science and math programs address the needs of all children as we account for their individuality and different developmental stages. Included in our physical education program is a thirty-minute weekly swim lesson. We have a limited number of full day openings. Our part day program also includes a weekly swim lesson.

Pre-K Swimming Lessons

Our preschoolers are provided with one 30 minute swimming lesson each week.  Throughout the course of the school year, swimmers will learn proper pool etiquette, gain a respect for the water and other swimmers along with aquatic comfortability, learn water survival techniques, practice exercise and endurance, and study control and coordination of the whole body.

Extended Day

Our extended day program allows our pre-k students to access all day care. Professionally supervised, children participate in various organized activities (arts & crafts, cooking, games, etc.), in a safe and structured environment. Children will be required to bring their own lunch/snacks. Space is limited and registrations are taken on a first come/first serve basis.
